Like many others, I was very excited in August when the empty restaurant space that used to be home to Chile Bomba on the popular Hillsborough St. had a sign up saying it would soon be a Chipotle Mexican Grill. While there are many competing Mexican “fast-food” chains in the area such as Moe’s, Salsarita’s, and Qdoba, Chipotle stands out from the crowd with their use of high quality ingredients and modern design. They only use meat and dairy from naturally raised animals that are not fed growth hormones.

For a few weeks after this Chipotle had their grand opening in September, people were lined up out the door every time I walked past. Not wanting to wait a long time for my food, I let the initial excitement of the new restaurant die down before stopping in for dinner this past Friday night. It was fairly crowded inside, mostly with college students as expected. I noticed right away how clean the floors and tables were. I ordered a chicken burrito and got to choose each ingredient as it was made, from which vegetables I wanted to how hot I wanted the salsa to be. This system works very well, especially for those who can be picky and do not want any surprises in their food. The young woman making my food was very cheerful and provided excellent service. My dinner was delicious and very filling! The chicken and cheese tasted very fresh and the guacamole was some of the best that I have had. I love spicy food, so I went with the hottest salsa and was pleased with how it had a nice kick but did not overpower the other flavors in the burrito. My dinner was a steal, as it came to less than $9.00 with a drink included.

I highly recommend giving Chipotle a try! With delicious and fresh ingredients at a great price, you won’t find a better deal in the area.
