Buffets can have their benefits: lots of food for one set price. Formerly Todai, KPOP Restaurant offers an array of seemingly mediocre sushi, sashimi, Asian dishes, dessert, and churrascaria meats. I know that buffets allow the beautiful element of choice, but when the food is not good—what’s the point? Of course not all of the dishes can be hot at the same time, but eating cold tempura sushi proved to be a bit of a disappointment. The arbitrary crepe bar and churrascaria seemed like after thoughts. I did enjoy the system of creating your own soup and having the access to a multitude of sauces. Although I was not a fan of the food, KPOP was aesthetically appealing: the diverse crowd, open floor plan, and colorful modern architecture were nice touches. I was irritated at the 18% gratuity for a buffet tacked onto my meal. I’m more than willing to give an 18% tip as long as the waiter does more than fill my glass with water. My bill ended up being $16.25 for a lunch I definitely could have done without.
